Got2B Fat-Tastic Instant Collagen Infused Thickening Plumping Mousse

I think the bff and I should have a happy hour sushi date soon!

Hi Dolls!
How are all of you doing today? We’re halfway through the week! I’m done with classes for the week and now I can just look forward to my weekend :-). I’m home watching Monster in Law with my sister, having mint chocolate chip and coffee ice cream…like a really good peppermint frappuccino.
I was standing in the bathroom this morning, trying to figure out what to do with my hair, and realized that it is full of products that I’ve picked up in my search for voluminous hair. Many of those products are sitting full because they let me down and I never got around to returning them. Bottle after bottle stood stood there looking sad and dusty…and then a bright yellow one caught my eye and reminded me that the search was totally worth it. That bright yellow belonged to my bottle of Got2B Fat-Tastic mousse. Check out the product description from the Got2B website:

The bottle is about $6 at drugstores.

This stuff is awesome because it makes my hair feel thicker, without leaving it stiff and heavy. I learned the hard way that a little goes a long way; starting with nickel sized amounts, I rub the product between my hands and work it into my roots and down the hair shaft. Seriously, don’t put huge amounts into your hair or it will take forever to dry and get gunky and weird…and just not pretty. After distributing the mousse through my hair, I blow dry it with a big round brush and run a flat iron through it to smooth any flyaways. My hair stays bouncy and full all day long!
The only thing I don’t love about this mousse is the scent, it’s really strong in a perfume-y kind of way, but that fades after a little while. I would recommend this to anyone looking for more volume, without the big price tag.

What’s your favorite volumizing product?

This Witch is Pretty Cool…

Not sure who this pic is by, but it makes me think of a pretty witch.

Happy Tuesday!

The coffee hasn’t kicked in yet, I’m in kind of a daze. I really should get to bed earlier every night, but I feel like there’s too much to do!

I was washing my face yesterday and I realized that I had completely overlooked a product that has saved my skin, and had to do a post on it! Witch hazel is the one thing that can REALLY clean my face without drying my skin out. I picked up Dickinson’s Witch Hazel after reading about it in a magazine, a makeup artist said that he uses it on his models before every show. The bottle is about $3.00 at any drugstore in the first aid aisle and lasts forever! Here are some descriptions from the product website:

I use this after washing my face; I soak a cotton pad and gently wipe my whole face and neck with it. Not going to lie, the stuff smells a little funky (kinda sweet, but like potatoes..I can’t describe it), but I can get over the smell because of how well it works! My skin tends to get red/irritated easily, and little blood vessels would show because I’m so pale. Witch Hazel took the redness out of my face and has shrunk all of the little blood vessels that had been showing before. I’ve been using this stuff for about a year and wont be stopping anytime soon. My skin doesn’t get dry and I love how clean it feels without being tight.

Have you tried Witch Hazel?

Peach Eyes

Counting down to Spring!

Hi Lovelies!

How are you weeks coming along? I was ok with being in lazy mode from Superbowl Sunday :-). Speaking of, go Saints! I was totally rooting for them because I have a huge crush on Drew Brees lol. I spent the day at my friend Dan’s house with all of my friends; lots of food, laughs, and a cute puppy named Pepper.

I did a quick peachy-gold eye for Sunday to match my sherbet orange nails (Tart Deco from Essie), here it is:

Items used:
My Coastal Scents 88 Warm Palette, the colors I used have little white dots next to them.

A burned orange with shimmer on the lid up to the crease.
A faded gold with shimmer along the crease.
A champagne with shimmer as a brow highlight.
MAC Eye Kohl in Teddy on the waterline
NYX eye pencil in 24 Karet along lower lashlines
Revlon Colorstay Liquid Liner in Blackest Black along the top Lashes
Stila Major Lash Mascara in Black
MAC Lingering Brow Pencil

What did you do over the weekend?

The Best Lounge Pants…Ever!

Hello Dolls!

Having a good Friday? The dentist was so nice…but he still had to drill my teeth :-(. I had to get four cavities taken care of and it involved 8 shots of Novocaine. 8!! I’m one of those lucky people that Novocaine doesn’t last on. After all of the needles and drilling, I just wanted to crawl under a rock and cry lol. The bf decided to make my day better by taking me book shopping and spending 2 hours at Borders while we drank smoothies from Juice It Up (I bought About Face by Scott Barnes!), going to lunch at Islands, and then watching New Moon (um…why didn’t Jacob have short hair before? And why is he only 17?!). I love when it’s Vanessa day:-).

He’s doing some cleaning while I catch up on my beauty blogs and I wanted to tell you about the amazing pants from American Eagle/Areie that I LOVE. They’re fold-over yoga/lounge pants and they come in lengths! I’m tall and have a hard time finding pants that are long enough; another reason I love them is that they don’t look as dressed down as regular sweats (which I would NEVER wear out of the house). They come in different colors and go on sale pretty often. Check them out!

Aerie Rollover Pant, $29.50 at AE.com

What are you up to tonight?

Makeup Forever Mat Velvet+…My New Love!

I think I may have to use the massage gift card the bf gave me…

Hello Pretty Readers!

It’s my Friday because I have the day off of work tomorrow; not for fun reasons, but because I have my annual dentist and doctors appointments, boo! I’ll be at the dentist at 7:30 am…so not looking forward to it. How has your week been?

On to the subject of today’s post!
……..…….
Makeup Forever Mat Velvet+. $34 at Sephora.

On my way to starting this blog, I read a ton of beauty blogs by other people, one of my faves being Tiffany’s. She’s so cute and stylish, and just awesome! Anyway, she does videos on her favorite products every month in which I heard about Makeup For Ever’s Mat Velvet+ foundation. Tiffany said she had used this during the time she was using Proactive to treat acne and that she hadn’t had any issues with it making her break out more.
My adventures in the world of liquid foundations have been interesting and every one has been a learning experience. I LOVE MAC products and use their powders and eye shadows more than any other…but their liquid foundations and my face can’t seem to get along; every time I use them, my face gets freaked out and starts breaking out like crazy. I’ve used drugstore foundations, Bare Essentuals, Estee Lauder, and Smashbox…if they didn’t break me out, they would oxidize and turn a weird orange color on my skin after a few hours.
After many failed attempts, I just gave up on liquid face makeup and stayed with MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinish Natural and studio fix/studio sculpt concealer. Well, I noticed that when I do heavy/dark/very bright eye makeup, I need a little more coverage on my face to balance them out. I gave in and went into Sephora for one more try with MUFE’s Mat Velvet +. The sales associate was really nice and helpful, taking 15-20 mins to match me and make sure I liked it and off I went.
I’ve used this foundation every day for a month and LOVED it. I’ve never used one that blended in so fast and that felt so light on my skin. Here are some notes for your reference:

Loved:
-The shade selection is awesome! (Always hang on to your receipt though, just in case you don’t like the color once you get home. Sephora’s return policy is great).
-It didn’t sink into my pores or oxidize.
-It stayed put all day, I just touched it up with my Mineralize Skinfinish powder when I left work at 5
-Controlled shine (I usually have to blot my face 3 times during work, I only had to do it once when using this foundation).
-The coverage is good, but doesn’t feel heavy and doesn’t look caked on.
-Applies really well with your fingers, a sponge, or a foundation brush. *Remember to wash your hands before if blending with your fingers*.
-Only a tiny amount (about the size of a regular m&m) is needed to cover my whole face.
-No strong odor.
-I didn’t break out!

Didn’t Love:
The price, $34. Even though I use a tiny amount each application, it still hurts to pay that much for foundation. I’m stingy about certain makeup items…maybe because I’ve had back luck with foundations before lol.

FYI-
As soon as you start blending, it goes from a liquid to almost a powder.
If you use a makeup brush, it will take more foundation than if you blend with your fingers.

I will definitely purchase this foundation again, I can’t imagine not having it now!

What’s your favorite foundation?

This is Marija Mamic, she taught the class. She had no makeup on and was just so pretty! She started by asking us to remove any makeup we had on and guided us step by step until we had transformed ourselves.

The setup. They supplied everything so we could do a full face of makeup. I was giddy lol.

Taking notes…

MAC heaven 🙂

Marija helping us find our crease.

Explaining the importance of primer.

Samples of powders and blushes supplied, everything was very sanitary.

Marija showing us dark shadow usage.

MAC artist, Christina, helping our table. She’s my fav makeup artist at the counter by my house 😀

Lipliner time!

The girls at my table, all really nice and pretty!

The aftermath lol.

My mini haul:

Personal Style Blush

Brow pencil in Lingering. OMG, I wish I had discovered this before! I’m obsessed!

Eye Kohl in teddy. I can’t wait to play with this!

Eye shadow in Mulch. Love the browns 😀

I had so much fun and I learned some really cool techniques. Marija was a doll, funny and a really great teacher; I can’t wait to take more classes with her.

If you have the itch to buy some MAC, might as well take a class! I would recommend it to makeup newbies and experienced makeup artists…there’s always more to learn.

Have you ever been to a MAC class?

Have a fab weekend!

Brown Eyes

Took this on my way home today, I love sunsets in the winter!

Hello Dolls!

How are you all doing? My week’s going along pretty slow, maybe because I’m looking forward to my MAC master class tomorrow night and have been waiting for it for 3 weeks now lol.

Here’s a smokey brown look I did this weekend:

You start by drawing a line with matte black shadow, stop before you get to the inner corners of your eyes.

Then you blend a dark brown matte shadow over the black, just past your crease.

Take a lighter matte brown shadow with a fluffy blending brush and blend along and past the crease.

It should look like this.

Line your upper lashes. I do winged liner because my eye shape looks funny if it just stops at the outer corners. Take a matte bone colored shadow and blend along your brow as a highlight. Then take a shimmery white shadow and fluff it into the inner corners of your eyes.

Now blend the black and brown shadows together and smudge them along your lower lashline. If you like, also line the waterlines of your eyes with black pencil.

Add mascara and you’re done! I went back and added a little more dark brown on the lid to really make the color show, but you don’t have to.

This is how it looks from the side/eyes closed.

After doing my hair, the whole look.

Products used:
Eyes:
Coastal Scents 88 palette black shadow
MAC Embark eyeshadow
MAC Wedge eyeshadow
MAC Mylar eyeshadow
MAC Dazzlelight eyeshadow
Revlon Colorstay Liquid Liner in Black
CG Lashblast mascara in Black
Stila Eye Kajal in Onyx

Face:
Makeup Forever Mat Velvet + foundation
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural
Cargo Blue-Ray Blush/Highlighter

Lips:
MAC Pretty Plush Plushglass

How is your week coming along?
