Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2011 Makeup

Hello Beauties!
Happy Monday :). The weekends have been flying by too fast, I think it’s because xmas is coming up and I haven’t done any of my shopping yet. Ah, well, I’ll make it happen ;). As you all know, last week the Victoria’s Secret fashion show aired so I decided to recreate the makeup for all of you. Although the show itself is very glam and over the top, the makeup was pretty subdued and low maintenance.

A few behind the scenes pics from the show. These women are some kind of obnoxiously attractive species of female, it’s really not fair :P.

The look was based around flawless skin, rosy cheeks, strategic highlighting, and lightly defined eyes. Sorry for the pic quality, it was one of those days!
Photobucket The eyes were lined in black with a slight wing on the outer corners, followed up with lots of mascara and groomed brows.

The foundation was buffed in really well and blush was applied right on the apples of cheeks, carried a little higher into the hairline. Lips were a soft, glossy pink.

::Products and application::
Face:
-MUFE HD primer buffed in with a flat top foundation buffer.
-MUFE Matt Velvet + foundation buffed in really well with a flat top foundation buffer. Applied two very thin coats for best coverage.
-MUFE Full Cover concealer on blemishes and under eyes.
-Tarte Smooth Operator translucent powder buffed over foundation.
-MAC Well Dressed and Stunner blushes blended together starting on the apples of the cheeks, carrying the leftover color up along cheekbones to the hairline.
-Cargo bronzer (the lightest shade) blended along hairline, along hollows of cheekbones, and jawline.
-Laura Mercier highlighting powder in Starlight blended on top of cheekbones going up and around brows.

Eyes:
-Revlon Colorstay liquid liner.
-Covergirl Lashblast mascara.

Lips:
-Rimmel 1000 kisses lip liner in Natural.
-MAC Creme Cup lipstick.
-Smashbox Pixel gloss.

What did you think of the show? Let me know if you recreate the look, I’d love to see!

Hi Dolls!
I hope you’re all having a lovely Sunday night. I’m taking a quick break from studying (it never ends!) to share a couple of great products that I ordered from an up and coming cosmetics company here in LA called SauceBox Cosmetics. I heard about them through my makeup artistry school and decided to pick up a blush and some new shadows. Alla, one of their awesome reps, has extended a discount to my readers that I’ll share at at the end of the post.

The banner at the top of the post is the artwork on the boxes their products come in, isn’t it adorable? The blush and shadows I ordered come in sleek black snap shut containers that are lightweight and portable.

On to the products:

-Blush in Cocktail: A cool toned candy pink with just a hint of frost. Very pigmented and soft powder that blends really easily. Loved the pop of color this provided. A little goes a long way and as you can see, it photographs well without being grainy/powdery.

-Bold Effect Shadow in Queen Bee: A bright, pigmented yellow with just a tiny bit of frost finish. Also really soft texture that blends very easily. I didn’t have any true yellows before, and I cannot wait to use this!

-Bold Effect Shadow in Torch: My favorite out of the bunch, this is a true orange shadow that’s beautifully pigmented, blends like a dream, and just stole my heart. I’ve been leaning toward citrus colors recently and I’m excited to use this with Queen Bee in an EOTD post.

Pricing:
Blush $15
Shadow $14

I’m really happy with my purchases and I’m looking forward to trying more of SauceBox’s products soon. The customer service was fantastic and thanks to Miss Alla, I’m happy to share a 30% off code with all of you lovely ladies. The code is NLM30 and shipping is free right now with every purchase (will find out how much longer that’s going for). Try them out and let me know what you think!

Just for Fun!

Happy Thursday Lovelies :),
Can you believe December is already here? This year has flown by! I’ve only got three makeup class sessions to go and I’ll be a certified MUA! I’ve loved every minute of this course and I’m super bummed that it’s almost over. I was blessed to get an amazing instructor and a great group of girls to have as classmates. Seriously, I should have done this years ago. As part of the course, we have a final project on the last class day. My instructor has informed us that we’ll be creating an anime/Japanese animation/Harajuku inspired look. Last night, we got to play with paints as a way of getting familiar with the colors and textures. I didn’t quite get to finish my look, but it’s more of a rough draft. I just thought it was cool to share with you guys and dolls :). Pardon the crappy picture quality, all I had was my Blackberry and it is no good for detailed shots.

Thanks for being my model, Geneva! 🙂

What do you think?
