Makeup Storage

Photobucket

Hi Dolls :-),
How are all of you starting off the year? I’ve been on a cleaning/organizing rampage that has consumed so much of my time and I’m not even halfway through! At the top of my list was my makeup organization. I have sooo much stuff that I don’t use because it’s been put away in dark train cases that weren’t easily accessible. I really really want acrylic storage drawers like the one’s the Kardashians have, but I found out that they cost anywhere from $200-$300…I just don’t have that kind of money right now lol. Instead, I worked with my much smaller budget and created a little makeup area on my dresser that makes it easy for me to see everything I have without digging or moving cases around. Check it out:

Photobucket The large container is from Target and I paid about $18 for it. The two small glass containers are also from Target and I paid about $4 for each.

Photobucket The top drawer has my face makeup including primer, concealer, foundation, and all of my blushes.

Photobucket The second drawer contains all of my department store/prestige brand eyeshadows, primers, and liners.

Photobucket The third drawer contains drugstore/miscellaneous eye products.

Photobucket The fourth drawer contains all of my lip products. I’m going to be switching the lip stuff with the last drawer when I find the right lipstick organizer so I can keep all of the products upright.

Photobucket The last drawer has all of my random products that didn’t fit in the first drawers lol.

Photobucket I stored all of my polishes in a dresser drawer.

Photobucket The glass vases are holding brushes/cleaner in one and random hair things and tea (I don’t even know lol…) in the other. I’m looking for the glass beads that Sephora uses in their brush displays to fill these with, anyone know where I can find them?

There it is! I spent about $30 on storage that will work until I can save up for the acrylic organizers I really want.

How do you store your makeup?

  1. Thanks for reading LLP! I’m glad Melanie told you about it!

Your make-up looks like mine! I’m so glad I’m not the only one with an ARSENAL of it!! Love how you organized it!

  2. Good lord girl…lol!

The acrylic beads can probably be found at Michaels/JoAnns/Walmart (?) – any craft/decorator store should have them. You might try Pier 1 or World Market too. (and those are all at the spectrum or chino town square, so that’s lucky too). I know I’ve seen them around.

  3. Just grab about five beads every time you go to Sephora. They’ll never notice! 😉

This turned out nicely. I like how colorful your eye shadow collection is. If I laid out all my eye shadows, it would pretty much be a sea of browns!

    • LOL!! That is an awesome idea, but my conscience wont let me steal those dang beads…I would guiltily walk back into the store, plop the beads down on the counter, and apologize.

It took me a long time to get into colorful eyeshadows, you could start by just lightly lining along your bottom lashes with a deep purple or blue. It’s all about the baby steps! I just tried hot pink lipstick (MAC’s Girl About Town) last weekend and loved it, although I felt like that’s all everyone was looking at it for the first few hours.

      • I do have a few different purples, and I’ve expanded a little from there, but by and large it’s neutrals.

Lipstick is another story. I have recently gotten more comfortable with bold lip colors, but I don’t go out much except to eat, so then the whole time I’m paranoid that I’ve worn off half of my lipstick in a goofy pattern. I admire women who can wear red lips just to go run errands…I’m not there yet. 🙂

  4. Oh my goodness. I just had a makeup orgasm I think, HA! Your makeup is amazing. You are VERY talented girlfriend.

Saw your comment on my “mistakes” post. I am so glad I could help make you feel not so alone. We ALL go through it, and it sucks but you will come out stronger. 🙂

You may be my new favorite guilty pleasure! I love pretty makeup!

    • Thank you so much! And yes, we will figure it out…with the help of girlfriends, pomtinis, and an occasional shoe splurge to ease the pain ;). Are there any particular looks you’d like to see here? I’m open to suggestions 🙂
